Foreign applicants must prove sufficient knowledge of the German language to study at German universities. The proof to be furnished may vary from university to university and from subject to subject. Therefore, the applicant should clarify in advance at the university of his choice which admission requirements are expected of him.

In contrast to DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer TestDaF (Test of German as a Foreign Language) can be taken at various test centers worldwide. In addition, TestDaF provides a differentiated assessment of in four areas (reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and oral expression) at the three levels TDN3, TDN4 and TDN5.

This corresponds to the Common European Framework of Reference at levels B 2.1 to C 1.2.

The TestDaF certificate is recognized by all German universities of applied sciences and universities. The requirements differ from university to university and must be requested in advance.

Those who have not reached the required level in an examination must, as a rule, first improve their language skills or are allowed to continue their studies under certain conditions. (accompanying language course).

Those taking the TestDaF exam should have completed at least 800 to 1000 hours of German lessons. (corresponds to B2/C1 level). The exam can be repeated.

At the Sprachakademie Stuttgart, the participants reach the level required for TestDaF as part of a C1 course and are then familiarized with the requirements of the TestDaF exams and the requirements and procedures of the TestDaF exams in a one-hundred-hour preparatory course. A positive result is achieved by these criteria.
